Edinburgh catering company Appetite Direct has announced its sponsorship of this year’s Edinburgh International Festival in the run-up to the festival’s programme launch next week.
The multi award-winning event caterer Appetite Direct has had a close working relationship with the EIF since launching twelve years ago, and in 2014 became the festival’s official catering partner thanks to a three-year contract to cater all EIF venues. This new four-figure sponsorship package further strengthens the ongoing working relationship between the two businesses.
Appetite Direct, based in Newhaven, has increased in size by 20% in the last 12 months and owner Nigel Kennedy is confident in the company’s potential. Last year the three-year EIF contract helped to secure the future of Appetite Direct’s 12 full-time and 30 part-time staff, while also creating two further full-time jobs. Turnover doubled in August 2014 thanks to the volume of festival events – 34 events related to the festival out of a total of 79 events that month.
Nigel Kennedy says: “It’s a great honour to be working with the Edinburgh International Festival and the sponsorship deal reinforces our positive working relationship while raising our profile too – our brand is included as an official partner in the EIF programme.
“This sponsorship deal celebrates our partnership with the world’s largest and most iconic arts festival while also giving us the opportunity to offer our services to all the EIF sponsors, including international, national and local companies, governments, arts organisations and patrons.
“We are particularly excited to be working with the EIF in Fergus Linehan’s inaugural year as director, and this year’s programme looks brilliant. It is also a great pleasure to work with the EIF’s extremely professional sponsorship team who work tirelessly to ensure sponsors get maximum benefit from their involvement
“Sponsoring the Edinburgh International Festival firmly places us as both a friend of and caterer to the arts – the only downside is that we don’t have enough time in August to attend most of the fantastic programme of events, or at least not as a member of the audience!”
Fergus Linehan, Edinburgh International Festival Director, says: “Our partnership with Appetite Direct has really enhanced our offer to artists and our audiences and supporters. We are to continue this association in 2015 and look forward to an extremely tasty Festival.”
