Practical ideas for a green event with Appetite.
We may look pink at Appetite Direct but actually we’re pretty keen on being green. For example we have always prided ourselves on sourcing seasonal and local produce since our inception in 2003. It’s not just the providence of our food that is key to all our bespoke menus but a serious consideration of limiting waste and our impact environmentally and socially.
So if you are considering using Appetite Direct for your event, small or large, you are already on your way to going green. But what else can you do, practically, without compromising the integrity of your event.
At Appetite we work with a huge range of unique and interesting venues; a number of which hold the Green Tourism Award. Certification is always a good indication that the people behind the scenes will be committed to making sure they are making the right impact.
Our Events team is on hand to help advise which venues can tick off those green credentials.
Take the strategies you use in the office and implement them at your event. Get rid of paper handouts and create a password protected web page that delegates can access on their tablets or laptops. Do you have a cycle to work scheme? Offer a discounted ticket price for those cycling to the event, or at the very least ensure there is way delegates can easily car share to and from your conference.
For weddings and parties the tips are just the same. Send E-Invites and think about people will be traveling to your special occasion.
We’re not quite at the age of digital decorations yet but things like confetti, balloons and paper decor can still be green. Source biodegradable products from recycled sources and make sure you implement a keep hold policy of paper lanterns or balloons for the sake of local wild-life.
If you’d like anymore ideas on how to go green with Appetite drop us a line. We love working with like minded people to create fabulous events for all our guests and the environment.
